Folarin is the CEO/founder of Nigerian registered GREFOL Services Limited that was established as an energy, resource management, and business development consultancy company in 2009. He is a chartered process engineer and project management practitioner with over 33 years’ experience in Energy Industry (Fossil Fuels / Hydrocarbon assets and Renewable Energy Systems). Oil & Gas field development planning & production operations support, project and engineering management for infrastructure development in both upstream and downstream of Oil/Gas industry. This includes feasibility studies of different processing plants, conceptual & detailed engineering design jobs, construction management and commissioning of facilities (power plants). Process engineering for Oil/Gas pipelines, production and treatment facilities. Design, Supply, and Installation of Solar (Photovoltaic) Energy Power Systems for both off-grid stand- alone applications, and hybrid PV/ fossil fuel generator set/grid connected systems.
Prior to his current CEO position at GREFOL, Folarin was at Exxon Mobil (Mobil Producing Nigerian Unlimited) for 10 years. In his tenure at Exxon Mobil, he was largely responsible for Major Capital Projects, Integrity Projects Management, and Business Development Planning, and served in different capacities as project / program, and business manager. Specific expertise include: Offshore Oil & Gas production facilities upgrade and refurbishment, development / execution of plans for Greenfield / Brownfield projects, responsible for concepts evaluation and selection, optimisation and technical definition (FEED & Detail Engineering Design), executed construction, planning and management. He was also the administrator of EPCM contract for several integrity projects, with responsibility for project control services, financing & accounting, interfaced management (Joint Venture Partners – NAPIMS, Nigerian Content Development -NCD, Department of Petroleum Resources -DPR, FMEnv, Government relations & other regulatory bodies) and project reporting.
At Flour Daniel Nigeria Ltd (subsidiary of Flour Daniel Inc. Houston, TX), Folarin was the technical lead liaison with clients (Shell, Mobil, Chevron, ELF, Agip, NNPC-NAPIMS) in-country. He managed the process of contract tenders, proposal / bid preparation, detailed engineering design, construction, Installation, Hook-Up / Commissioning, and project management for EPC & EPCM type of contracts.
At Lenoil Petroleum in Guinea Conakry and Nigeria, He held several positions from Project Engineer, Project Manager, to Chief Operating Officer. He established the organization to develop business opportunities and capability to manage infrastructure development projects including; mining of bauxite, iron ore, and hydroelectric power projects. He was also involved in International trading of refined petroleum and petroleum / synthetic based lubricants to high power industries in the West African sub-region.
Folarin obtained his MBA from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh Business School, Scotland; He earned his Post-Graduate Certificate in Petroleum Studies (C.P.S.) from St. Catherine’s College, Oxford University, UK. He earned his BSc and M.Sc. degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Earlier educational preparation was at St. Peter’s Anglican School, Eaton Square – London (UK), St. James’ Cathedral School, Ibadan and Government College Ibadan (GCI) in Oyo State, Nigeria.
He is a chartered engineer (COREN), distinguished Fellow of Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, affiliate member of American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Institution of Chemical Engineers in United Kingdom and European Federation of Chemical Engineers. He is on the board of directors of several companies including Liquefied Gas Services, 5K Gas & Power, GREFOL Services, WOF Agro-Allied Services, FRAPEL Integrated Concepts, Solarmate Engineering, etc.
Folarin enjoys traveling, reading, field hockey, football, cricket, lawn tennis, chess and golfing.
